CBS Sports Reporter ties Kalen DeBoer to potential Big Ten job opening

The coaching carousel is sure to spin this season like it always does, and a coach who can not seem to keep his name out of the roundabout is Kalen DeBoer.

The Alabama ahead coach was connected to the Michigan head coaching job opening last year.

DeBoer is now being linked to a possible opening at USC. CBS Sports’ John Talty said DeBoer would be at the top of the Trojans’ list if they decided to part ways with Lincoln Riley.

“It is kind of an open secret I would say, uh, in the industry that if USC were to make a move, that Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer would be at the top of the list,” Talty said. “Jen (Jennifer Cohen) and Kalen had obviously previously worked together at Washington. And so that’s what I was talking about earlier with the potential dominoes. Like, things could get real wild real fast if a couple things go a certain way.”

USC’s Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen was Washington’s AD when DeBoer coached the Huskies. DeBoer recently signed a contract extension with the Crimson Tide after leading Alabama to the College Football Playoff last season.
