What to expect in the second half of Alabama vs. Sam Houston

Alabama forward Amari Allen (5) in action against Furman at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, AL on Thursday, Oct 8, 2026.

The Crimson Tide currently lead the Sam Houston Bearkats 40-29 at halftime of tonight’s season opener at Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama got off to an extremely slow start on the offensive end of the floor against the Bearkats. A handful of transfer players made an instant impact in the first half, however, and Alabama’s new look front court has allowed the Tide to create a plethora of second chances over the first 20 minutes of the contest.

Defensively, Alabama was able to thrive as the Bearkats have struggled to create space and find the open passing lane consistently. London Jemison is the Tide’s leading scorer with 10 points despite coming off the bench, followed by freshman Tarris Bouie with 7.

Alabama as a team is shooting 27% from behind the arc at the half. The Tide were able to grab 24 total rebounds opposed to Sam Houston’s 22.

The Tide will more than likely continue to lean on Tarris Bouie and London Jemison in the second half, as the duo was excellent on the offensive end of the floor throughout the first 20 minutes of play. Alabama will look to continue forcing contested shots defensively, and the team as a whole will need to heat up after an ice cold shooting performance to begin the night.

The second half of Alabama vs. Sam Houston is set to begin shortly.
