Hewitt-Trussville High School football has two stars already for the 2019 Alabama football season. One of them is Alabama offensive tackle commit Pierce Quick. The other is the great-grandson of Alabama legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, quarterback Paul Tyson. Another player that is “overlooked,” is 6’9” and weighs 360 pounds. Joseph Stone is a transfer from Savannah, Georgia and plays defensive tackle for the high school. The coaching staff is also considering playing him on the offensive line as well. With his size alone, that might make Arkansas Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema come down to scout and possibly recruit him to fit his offensive line. A big question on many people’s minds maybe; why hasn’t he been a name that many have heard of? It is simple really. While Stone has tremendous size, he didn’t display quick footwork and at times he did not show his obvious strength coming off the ball against his opposing linemen. Now it could have just been first day jitters of spring ball or it could have really highlighted things that he needs to improve. Either way, if he can make some adjustments in these two areas, he will be in excellent shape during the recruitment process. His coaches give him a surplus of praise for what he can do in the weight room and if his skills there can transfer to the field this fall, we should see Joseph Stone’s name on the Division 1 college’s radars.
As of right now, Joseph Stone has drawn interest from Memphis State and Georgia State. Expect him to get more attention soon.
