Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban documented his bible, “The Process,” in 2007. Players that learned under this idea became successful as professional athletes, working class citizens and people in general.
Former Crimson Tide placekicker Jeremy Shelley is now participating in the Arena Football League. He was assigned to the Arizona Rattlers on Mar. 26, 2015. Shelley was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2013, but was later waived from the roster.
Shelley becomes the second former Alabama player to join the arena ranks. Alfred McCollough, a standout player for Alabama from 2007-11, is an offensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Storm. Shelley was one of 14 kickers that tried out for the Rattlers. Arizona has won the last three Arena Bowl championships, including one in 2014.
Shelley was known at Alabama as a clutch specialist. He nailed 44 of 55 field goal attempts (80 percent) in his tenure in Tuscaloosa (2009-12). His five made field goals against LSU in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game stands as a record.
Shelley’s 172 made extra points was an Alabama record, ranking him fifth all-time in scoring. He was one of 20 finalists for the Lou Groza Award (nation’s best kicker) in 2012. Shelley won the Vlade Award (nation’s most accurate kicker) presented by the Touchdown Club of Columbus in his senior season. He was a member of three national championship teams at Alabama.
