Since a nation wide mandatory quarantine was instilled the daunting loss in profits and revenue for the states and cities was unavoidable.
Congress has already passed trillions of dollars in fiscal programs and stimulus packages in hopes to counteract financial disruption caused by COVID-19, but whenever this ends or at least improves there will be countless places and businesses in the red.
For some cities across the country who are fortunate enough to have sports teams, their seasons can help greatly in minimizing the damage, and Alabama football is one of those big money makers for Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox stated that a year without the Crimson Tide would mean a loss of $2 billion.
This staggering margin caught the attention of many football pundits and Alabama supporters across the country, with many raising the argument that college athletes should be compensated.

Repeating: Plenty of positive tests across cfb, but remember: They will make every effort to play, up to the point that it becomes impossible. And then, they will try again. Because if they don't play, the economics collapse. https://t.co/bX1N1kLTx0
