Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake sustains hamstring injury at mini-camp

Former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake (No. 17) at CFP title game in 2016: Cedric Mason- Touchdown Alabama Magazine

The Miami Dolphins encountered an injury during Wednesday’s mini-camp session and it occurred to a player that very few want to see hurt, running back Kenyan Drake.

Drake, who’s been impressive throughout the offseason, sustained a hamstring injury on special teams according to Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post. His diversity creates a lot of opportunities for him as a back, wide receiver and return man, but staying healthy is crucial.

Drake battled multiple injuries in four seasons at Alabama, including a broken leg against Ole Miss (2014) and a fractured right arm against Mississippi State (2015). Through it all, he totaled 1,189 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in the Crimson Tide’s national championship run a year ago.

He’s expected to back up Jay Ajayi, the projected starter at running back for Miami in 2016.
