College football recruiting is all about timing and 2021 athlete, JT Billups’, time may be right around the corner.
Billups currently attends Gordo High School in Gordo, Alabama. The Green Wave lined Billups up at safety and wide receiver on last season. Gordo’s head coach, Ryan Lolley, expressed to yours truly, Billups is one of the best athletes he has ever coached and Lolley coached former 5-Star and current Alabama linebacker, Ben Davis, during his time at Gordo.
At 6-2 and 201 pounds, Billups said he is working on his leadership heading into his junior season.
“I am working on being a leader for the young guys,” Billups said. “I feel like a big inspiration to them being someone they can look up to.”
No college has shown interest in Billups as of yet, but it is not out of the question for the 2021 prospect to see a huge boost in his recruitment in the near future. The state of Alabama saw this happen last year with 4-Star wide receiver, JJ Evans. Evans received eight offers in one month after his junior season before committing to Auburn.

Billups said he feels an offer to play Division 1 football would be great, but he knows he will have to stay grounded.
“It would be big for me,” Billups said. “But I know I will have to stay humble as I wait for bigger things to come.”
On the field, Billups brings aggressiveness to the safety position. The Gordo product embraces contact and has no problem with lowering the boom on ball carriers. His ball tracking skills also stand out, which is a product of him being a nice target for highly recruited 2022 quarterback, Tanner Bailey, on the offensive side of the ball.

Safety is the position Billups is looking to play at the next level. A nice junior season could open the door right up for Billups on the recruiting trail as he continues to produce for Gordo High School.
