Ian Jackson, 4-Star LB, sets commitments date

It has been quite the recruiting rise for 2021 4-Star linebacker, Ian Jackson, out of Prattville High School in Prattville, Alabama.

Jackson posted on Twitter, he will announce his verbal commitment on May 28 and will choose from Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Oregon, Georgia and LSU.

The last couple of months have been a blur for Jackson. As of late January, the 4-Star recruit had not received an offer from any of the teams he is choosing from and Troy was the only in-state offer on the table. Touchdown Alabama caught up with him during that month and he said he was open to every school.

“I want to be clear, I am open to all schools no matter what conference,” Jackson said. “As far as my dream school, I really just want an opportunity to play in the SEC. Most of my family went to Auburn and I have been up there a few times. I took a visit to an Alabama game during the 2018 season and I really enjoyed it.”

Alabama’s coaching staff had no direct contact with Jackson until a couple of weeks later when they extended an invite to their Junior Day Event to him, where he received an offer from the Tide.

Nick Saban raved about Jackson’s versatility when he offered him.

“My family and I met with coach (Nick) Saban and they offered me,” Jackson said. “He said he loves my versatility and the fact that I can play inside or outside linebacker.”

Multiple members of Alabama’s coaching staff have remained in heavy contact with Jackson since he received an offer from Alabama. The rising senior told yours truly several Alabama coaches had been talking to him on the regular when he joined me on “The Process.”

Alabama currently has five commits in its 2021 recruiting class. Jackson would be a nice addition if the Tide can fight off the other heavy contenders in his recruitment.
