According to footage from the Crimson Tide’s athletics department, Ty Perine, Sam Johnson (No. 98) and Charlie Scott (No. 85) were booming punts at Bryant-Denny Stadium. All three punters have strong legs and after watching Perine dominate off the bench in 2019, the sophomore has some competition.

Scott, a transfer from Air Force, is the younger brother of former Alabama standout and All-American, JK Scott.

Johnson, who stands at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, is walk-on from Oak Mountain High School, but the Birmingham (Ala.) native is highly talented.

As the competition continues between Mac Jones and Bryce Young, cameras caught true freshman Jase McClellan (No. 21) performing drills with the running backs.

Hailing from Aledo, Texas, McClellan has a lot of burst and explosiveness to his game.

He totaled 6,486 career rushing yards with 122 touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 212-pounder will see some opportunities on special teams, but could work his way into the rotation.

Despite next Monday being Labor Day, Alabama will practice at 3:40 p.m.
