A member of Nick Saban’s coaching rehab is about to leave the nest.

According to a report from FootballScoop.com, Butch Jones is expected to take the head coaching position at Arkansas State University.

On the heels of the report, a pair national media pundits — Brett McMurphy and Bruce Feldman — both confirmed the report with their own sources, in that the Red Wolves will announce Jones as its head coach in a presser on Saturday.

Jones, 52, has been an offensive analyst at Alabama since 2018.

He was previously at the helm at Central Michigan (2007-09), Cincinnati (2010-12) and Tennessee (2013-17), prior to his arrival to the Crimson Tide as an off-field assistant.

Jones was on an SEC Championship team in 2018 and helped Alabama remain unbeaten through a 10-game, conference-only schedule. He will take every lesson and apply it to his new opportunity at Arkansas State.
