4-Star DL Chris McClellan reacts to earning Alabama offer

Chris McClellan tweeted he earned an offer from Alabama football Tuesday.

The Crimson Tide is the 36th program to offer McClellan. They join Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC in the race to land the Oklahoma product. McClellan said he had been in contact with Alabama’s defensive back coach before he was informed of his offer.

“It was actually sort of crazy,” McClellan said. “I have been talking to coach (Jay) Valai for a minute. They were trying to get me to come to a camp, but my June schedule is crazy. It was going to be hard for me to get there. I was informed of the offer last night.”

The four-star recruit had been working to pull in offers from some of the top power five programs for more than a year. An impressive junior season put him on the radar of several high-profile programs.

“I have been grinding because I am from Oklahoma, and we get looked over most of the time,” McClellan said. “We got some dogs. It is just confirmation that I am one of the best if not the best defensive lineman in the country.”

McClellan went on to say multiple aspects of the Alabama football program stand out to him.

“Nick Saban, their Championships, the NFL first-rounders are a few things that come to mind,” McClellan added. “It speaks for itself.”

McClellan plays every position across the defensive line at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds.
