We are in for a special weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama football takes on LSU at 6 p.m. on ESPN. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are making a push for a national championship coming off a bye week. The Tigers (4-4) look to give Alabama a competitive game, but the Tide will have support from a former national champion on its sideline. On Saturday, Alabama will honor its 2011 BCS national title team.

It was Saban’s second national championship team in Tuscaloosa.

The group was dominant on defense, leading the nation in all five major categories. Despite a loss to LSU, the Tide made it to the national championship matchup at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. Alabama earned a 21-0 victory, and Saban was doused in Gatorade. Leaders from the team include AJ McCarron, Trent Richardson, Christion Jones, Kevin Norwood, Marquis Maze, DeAndrew White, Barrett Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Barron, Dont’a Hightower, Josh Chapman, De’Quan Menzie, and Courtney Upshaw.

The 2011 team got fans through a tough time dealing with a tornado.

It has been 10 years since the accomplishment, but fans will be happy to see the players.
