The Washington Commanders have signed Phidarian Mathis to his rookie contract.
As an Alabama football alum, Mathis got selected in the second round of the NFL Draft. He turned in great numbers for the Crimson Tide in 2021 with 53 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. Mathis earned permanent team captain honors and pushed the Tide to an SEC Championship.
