Could one of the best running backs of the Nick Saban era at Alabama be heading back to the pros?

Bo Scarbrough’s first opportunity in the National Football League did not go well, but the United States Football League (USFL) has reopened its eyes to him. Scarbrough turned in three 100-yard performances for the Birmingham Stallions, including a 135-yard outing with a touchdown in the USFL Championship Game against the Philadelphia Stars. He delivered the Stallions to a championship, bringing Birmingham its first one in professional sports. Scarbrough’s efforts allowed him to receive a workout with the New Orleans Saints. Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reported the news on Tuesday. The Saints could use a power back to pair with the versatile Alvin Kamara. It will be interesting to see if New Orleans decides to sign Scarbrough to its roster.

Before he turned pro, Scarbrough was a five-star running back in the 2014 recruiting cycle.

He played at Northridge High School and IMG Academy. Scarbrough joined the Crimson Tide in 2015 and became impactful in 2016. He totaled 180 yards rushing on 19 carries and two touchdowns (all career-highs) for Alabama in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against Washington. Scarbrough pounded the Huskies’ defense, propelling the Tide to a 24-7 victory. He rushed for two scores in the 2017 CFP National Championship Game versus Clemson, until suffering a knee injury. Scarbrough was on two national championship teams and two Southeastern Conference Championship teams (2015, 2016) in his time at Alabama.
