Houston Texans second-round pick John Metchie won’t be taking the field for the foreseeable future as he announced last month that he has been diagnosed with leukemia. In his original statement, the former Alabama receiver shared that his specific diagnosis is one of the most curable forms of leukemia but right now his focus will rightfully be on his health and well-being.

Following the announcement, there was an outpour of support from his former Crimson Tide teammates, coaches along with the entire NFL community.

During the Texans’ preseason game last week, one of Metchie’s teammates also decided to pay tribute to him on the field.

After second-year wide receiver Jalen Camp scored a touchdown, he honored Metchie, who would have made his preseason debut, by imitating his “Crimson Crane” celebration which he made famous during his final season at Alabama.
