Alabama football’s head coach Nick Saban is set to make a trip to Washington Thursday along with other SEC coaches and administrators to lobby for federal assistance in regulating how college athletes earn money via their name, image and likeness.

Saban previewed his trip to the nation’s capital during an interview with the Associated Press.
“The whole idea is we want to provide information based on our experience, so that maybe people that are involved in congress, house, senate, both sort of have an idea of what the issues really are and how it can impact and affect college football in the future,” Saban said. “I think we’re all for players. I think we all want players to have the opportunity to be able to earn things. I think how does it impact competitive balance based on the guardrails that we have right now, I don’t think this system works very well from a competitive balance standpoint. So, we need to try to figure some kind of way where players have the opportunity to use their name, image, and likeness to make money. Nobody’s trying to take that away from ’em, but do it in a way where it doesn’t create a competitive imbalance.”
