We have made it to July and SEC Football Media Days are coming soon.

The University of Alabama looks to return to the College Football Playoff in the fall and win a national championship. Nick Saban has several talented players, but which ones will emerge as the most impactful?

The staff at Touchdown Alabama Magazine will spotlight numerous players for the upcoming season.

After previewing JC Latham, Tyler Booker is the second offensive lineman in this player spotlight.

Tyler Booker

Classification: Sophomore

Hometown: New Haven, Conn.

Position: Offensive Guard

Size: 6-5/335 pounds

2022 stats: 30 knockdown blocks (420 snaps), blocked for the nation’s No. 4 scoring offense (41.1 ppg)

Strengths: Elite size, athleticism, exceptional run blocker, elite in pass protection, very physical

Weaknesses: Nothing glaring

Summary

Tyler Booker was arguably the best offensive line prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

He played with JC Latham, an Alabama offensive lineman, at IMG Academy and followed him to the Crimson Tide.

As a five-star, Booker earned Freshman All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches and Freshman All-American honors from Pro Football Focus. He rotated at right and left guard through 12 games in 2022, before starting on the left side for Alabama against Kansas State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The 6-foot-5, 335-pounder is a nasty run-blocker who also excels in pass protection.

Booker is physical at the attack point and love to drive defenders into the groud.

He assisted Bryce Young to a 3,000-yard passing campaign last year while clearing the way for Jahmyr Gibbs to have nearly 1,000 (926) yards rushing. Booker is benching almost 500 pounds (475) this summer in Alabama’s weight training program.

He is an elite lineman, and it will be interesting to see if Nick Saban has Booker playing next to Latham in the fall.
