As Alabama continues to reemphasize the run game, its top running back could be playing with a few festering injuries Saturday against Ole Miss.

It was reported by ESPN’s Chris Low that there were concerns this week that Crimson Tide running back Jase McClellan wouldn’t be able to play against the Rebels, but as the week progressed, McClellan proved to be ready to go.

McClellan is second on the team in rushing as he’s recorded 158 yards on 25 attempts and one touchdown through three games.

Even with McClellan cleared for play, head coach Nick Saban shared that the younger running backs, Jam Miller and Justice Haynes are capable and ready to make contributions.

“I think Jase and Roydell (Williams) have played very, very well,” Saban said on Wednesday. “Both guys. But I also have, we also have confidence in Jam (Miller) and you know, Justice (Haynes). And I think both of those guys will contribute at some point in time in the season pretty significantly. Because they’re both really good players and I think they’re both ready to play.”

Miller and Haynes both share the third-string running back slot on Alabama’s game-day depth chart.
