Where Nick Saban feels Jalen Milroe has improved as a runner

Jalen Milroe has been a more effective runner in recent weeks for Alabama football.

The redshirt sophomore quarterback has rushed for 332 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He had his best outing on the ground against LSU when he rushed 155 yards on 20 carries.

Nick Saban feels Milroe’s ability to run the football has impacted his ability to throw it.

“I think Jalen has great capability as a runner,” Saban said. “I think he’s been pretty effective in his choices of when to step up in the pocket and when to run when he has an opportunity to make a play when he doesn’t, but I think the thing he’s develop is the ability to keep his eyes down field and make plays in the passing game even when the pocket breaks down. I think he’s been an effective runner for us when we have had perimeter plays that involved reads on his part to get to the perimeter. I think both those things help us overall, offensively in terms of what the defense have to defend.”

Milroe will look to continue to be a dual-threat Saturday in the Iron Bowl.
