During spring practice and fall camp, Jam Miller has been the lead running back for the Crimson Tide offense.
Miller only rushed for over 100 yards in one game in 2024, but with Justice Haynes no longer on the team and with some uncertainty behind him, coaches are counting on Miller having an explosive 2025 season.
When asked which running back he models his game and work ethic after, he chose Alabama’s first Heisman Trophy winner.
“Mark Ingram,” Miller said. “I’ve been watching some of his film this year. He was a great back, and just watching him, I try to learn some of the things that he does and try to do it in my game.”
Ingram is a great example for any power running back to study. Before making it to the pros, Ingram helped lead Alabama to an undefeated national championship season in 2009 where he ran for 1,542 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns as well as catching 30 passes for 322 yards and three scores.
Miller highlighted what was special about Ingram in his career.
“He was great at making people miss, you know, being physical and breaking arm tackles,” Miller said. “Just doing a lot of great things on the field.”
The 2024 Alabama rushing attack was led by the mobile Jalen Milroe from the quarterback position. Now with Milroe in the pros, a challenge is presented for any of the Tide’s skill guys to step up and replace that production.
Last season, Jam Miller rushed for 668 yards and seven touchdowns on 145 touches. Miller has an opportunity to eclipse his 2024 numbers as he will run behind a strong offensive line of veterans.
