Ty Simpson earned what he had been waiting and working for when he was named the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback on Monday.

Sitting and waiting for an opportunity to play is a dying art in collegiate sports due to how easy it is to transfer from one program to another along with the opportunities NIL deals bring about. A former five-star like Simpson waiting for his opportunity is not considered even a little normal in today’s college landscape.

Simpson opted to take the path less traveled because he loves the University of Alabama and its football program.

“I think it’s abnormal for sure, not transferring in today’s day and age,” Simpson said. “But I don’t regret it all. I love being here. I love my teammates. I love this university. I learned a lot from the guys that played before me like Bryce and Jalen. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them.”

It is now time for Simpson to show he was worth the wait.
