Former Alabama running back TJ Yeldon was arrested by the Baldwin County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office early Saturday morning on domestic violence charges. Yeldon faces charges of third degree domestic violence, third degree criminal mischief and one count of interference with a domestic violence emergency call according to the BCSO.
The BCSO responded to a 911 phone transfer around 1 am where officers could hear what was believed to be a domestic violence offense between a man and a woman. When deputies arrived at the scene, Yeldon allegedly saw them, shut off the lights and refused entry to the home.
The caller said that she locked herself in the bedroom upon the deputies’ arrival and that Yeldon was attempting to enter the room as well. Yeldon would later unlock the door after the deputies attempted a forced entry.
Yeldon was taken to BCSO corrections center and was released on a $2,000 bond according to officials.
Yeldon played under Nick Saban at Alabama from 2012-14 joining the team as a five-star recruit. During his freshman season, Yeldon played an integral role in helping the Crimson Tide with the national championship.
Following his collegiate career, Yeldon would declare for the 2015 NFL Draft where he would be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2nd round. He would play a total of six seasons in the NFL with his final two years coming with the Buffalo Bills.
