ESPN updated its Football Power Index (FPI) rankings ahead of week one of the 2025 football season.
The Football Power Index is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season.
ESPN has Alabama football ranked at No. 3 in its FPI rankings ahead of week one and the Crimson Tide’s season-opener against Florida State.
Texas is ranked No. 1 and Georgia is ranked No. 2. Ohio State and Penn State are behind Alabama at No. 4 and No. 5 to round out the top five in the updated rankings.
