Kirby Smart gives Ty Simpson high praise ahead of Alabama vs. Georgia

Kirby Smart believes Ty Simpson is probably the ‘hottest quarterback in all of college football’ ahead of Alabama facing Georgia on Saturday.

Simpson has caught the attention of the Georgia head coach after playing nearly flawlessly over the last two games, completing 41 of 46 passes for 608 yards, along with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. Simpson has also impressed by flashing his athleticism, rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries so far this season.

“He’s (Ty Simpson’s) a really good athlete,” Smart told reporters on Monday. “He’s a tremendous athlete. He played in games last year, you watch all the snaps he took, he has 60,70,80 yard runs where he’s running down the field, out running good defenses. So, he’s a talented player, I would probably say that he’s probably the hottest quarterback in all of college football right now. His two last outings, I don’t know if I’ve seen an incompletion. Like, the ball does not hit the ground. He’s been accurate, he’s been quick with the ball. They’re really hard to defend because of their skill, they’ve got tremendous skill receivers, backs and tight ends but you’ve got to have a trigger guy that can get those guys the ball and they do.”

Simpson will look to continue his consistency under center for the Crimson Tide offense when he leads Alabama into Sanford Stadium to take on Georgia at 6:30 p.m. CST.
