Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer feels his squad is not ‘there yet’ after defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 24-21 on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide put together their most impressive performance of this young football season on Saturday night in Sanford Stadium. Alabama had control of the game from start to finish as the Bulldogs never led in the game.

DeBoer feels this is a win Alabama earned by protecting the football and by executing on both sides of the football. However, the head coach also feels the Tide must continue to get tougher.

“I think there’s a toughness that’s being built,” DeBoer said. “I don’t think we’re there yet. I think there’s things that we can do better, but we talked about mental, physical, and emotional toughness that it was gonna take. That was one of the first things we put on the keys to victory at the beginning of the week. We knew it was gonna be a game of turnovers and takeaways. That was gonna be critical. And then executing in critical situations, and we did that. Those three things right there; we’ve taken care of the football, we executed in critical times, got the fourth down stop, executed on third down, got off the field, especially in the first half. We were good in the red zone offensively, four for four, I think, three touchdowns. All those things, but there’s a toughness that our guys are building on, and we still got a long ways to go.”

Alabama will look to continue to make strides towards getting tougher as they begin to switch their focus to Georgia.
