On Tuesday, Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer released a statement on Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and his future with the program.

“After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program. He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.”

The defensive back was arrested on Monday on two misdemeanor charges. Those charges were harassing communications and doxing. A University of Alabama Police officer reported that the Alabama defensive back sent him a message on Facebook, demanding the officer text him back, according to a complaint filed in Tuscaloosa County District Court. The message was reportedly described as profane.

“[The officer] stated he was immediately alarmed by the message due to prior involvements with Kirkpatrick in November 2025, during which [the officer] conducted a traffic stop and Kirkpatrick eluded [the officer] and other officers on the scene,” according to a deposition, via WBRC.

Kirkpatrick Jr. is officially off of the team. He played 59 snaps this season at the “Husky” position in the Alabama defense. He did not start at this position, but he provided depth as a nickel corner. Red Morgan is the starter at this position, and the Crimson Tide also have Chuck McDonald who can play there too.
