Alabama football’s true freshman offensive lineman, Micheal Carroll is starting to see his role expand in the Crimson Tide’s offense as this season progresses.
The former five-star recruit and Pennsylvania native has been impressive while rotating along Alabama’s offensive front this season, providing the Tide with versatility and depth. Through five games, the 6-foot-6, 321-pounder has gradually seen his role increase each week. He saw his most amount of playing time against Louisiana-Monroe, where he made his collegiate debut at right tackle and played 30 snaps without allowing a sack.
“I would say, that I’m building the coaches trust in me because I’ve been putting in the hard work and listening to what they tell me,” Carroll said in a recent interview with the Crimson Tide Sports Network. “And then, just going out there and executing.”
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has come away impressed with Carroll’s competition level, calling him a ‘super competitive, physical kid.’
Another voice singing this same tune regarding Carroll’s continuous growth is fellow Tide lineman and junior tackle, Kadyn Proctor.
“He’s just a hungry young kid,” Proctor said. “I mean, he hates being with the twos, as anybody would. And I know that’s how I was too. And I see he’s trying to do the things to change that and never be on the twos.”
Carroll has an opportunity to earn a starting role with Alabama, continuing to rotate its offensive line.
