Alabama football’s wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard has been announced as the next head coach at Oregon State.
The veteran assistant coach will be embarking on his first journey as a college head football coach. He will be introduced as the head coach on Dec. 2.
“I’m honored to lead the Oregon State University football program and to join a community that cares so deeply about its student-athletes,” Shephard said in a statement. “We will build a culture rooted in toughness, integrity, and relentless effort, and I’m excited to get to work with our players, staff, and supporters to write the next great chapter of Beaver football.”
It has not been confirmed if Shephard will coach Alabama in or after the Iron Bowl. He is in his second year as the Tide’s wide receiver coach.
The Crimson Tide has a former NFL wide receiver coach on its staff in Tyler Hughes. Hughes is an analyst for the Tide and is the former wide receivers coach for the New England Patriots.
