Oklahoma Sooners’ defensive back, Eli Bowen had an interception in each of the Sooners’ last two wins over the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Bowen intercepted Milroe in 2024, and he returned an interception off Ty Simpson 89 yards for a touchdown earlier this season. The Texas native told reporters Wednesday he would love to keep this streak going against the Tide in the first round of the College Football Playoff with a better overall performance.
“I’d love to keep the pick streak alive, but I didn’t have my best game besides some big plays last time we played them,” Bowen said. “I just want to have an overall good game this time.”
Simpson took responsibility for multiple turnovers against the Sooners after the Tide’s 23-21 loss to Oklahoma in Tuscaloosa.
“They brought some stuff that we hadn’t seen before,” Simpson said. “I got to do a better job of taking caring of the ball. I think we all need to do a better job of taking care of the ball on offense because that’s what killed us. I don’t think they had any turnovers. We had three.”
The Sooners and the Tide will play each other for the third time since the Sooners joined the SEC on Dec. 19 in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CST.
