Carmelo O’Neal has confirmed his commitment to transfer to Alabama.
O’Neal is a former Mercer defensive back. The 6-foot-4 defensive back finished the 2025 season with 36 total tackles, 10 pass break ups, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He was listed as a safety for the Bears, but he started games at cornerback.
Alabama football’s newest addition at DB Carmelo O’Neal fits the long and rangy criteria the Tide staff seems to love.

The new Alabama addition stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 200 pounds, and O’Neal has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Crimson Tide is losing two defensive backs to the NFL at the moment in Domani Jackson and DaShawn Jones. Keon Sabb and Bray Hubbard have yet to make an announcement about their futures in the Tide’s secondary. Alabama could return a good amount of experience on the backend of its defense.
