The Alabama Crimson Tide held its annual Junior Day on Saturday, which was loaded with top-notch talent and what might be the future of Alabama football. During the event, the Tide extended new offers to two prospects.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer and company started the day by offering a 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety in the class of 2027 out of Marietta, Georgia, in MJ Burnett. His popularity has skyrocketed recently, with offers flowing in from many top teams.

Over the last week, Burnett has seen programs such as Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and Miami show interest and extend offers. The Crimson Tide is now trying to get in the action with the recruit and hoping to sway the three-star to Tuscaloosa.

However, with his father having played for Georgia Tech and his uncle for Georgia, the Tide will have its work cut out for it for the prospect who has flown under the radar, primarily being recruited as a safety, but also plays wide receiver for Walton High.

Burnett recorded over 170 receiving yards, while also tallying 45 total tackles and five interceptions over eight games as a junior last season, but his talent speaks for itself on the field rather than the stat sheet.

His speed sets him apart, allowing him to separate himself from defensive backs as a receiver. On the contrary, his defensive success is due to his impressive ability to read the quarterback and attack the ball.

It would be interesting to see if the Tide would be open to allowing him to play both sides of the ball at some point, should he announce a commitment to Alabama. If he did, he could potentially end up having help from the Tide’s second offer of the day.

The Crimson Tide also offered a class of 2028 quarterback, Trey Tagliaferri. The New Jersey native stands at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds as a junior-to-be for the upcoming season. He also identifies as a pro-style quarterback.

Prioritizing a strong pocket presence and accuracy, Tagliaferri threw for 2,238 yards and 30 touchdowns as a sophomore last season. He led Bergen Catholic to the playoffs after throwing just three interceptions on the season.

With two years of high school left, he could end up as one of the best quarterbacks in the class. His mechanics may be his most impressive trait, with the quickness of his release being quite an asset to pair with his deep ball accuracy.

It will be interesting to see how the Tide plays the rest of the offseason in terms of recruiting, but DeBoer and Alabama will certainly be hoping to land some commitments soon after a strong push from the staff on Junior Day.
