DeBoer asked about Alabama football’s A-Day format

Kalen DeBoer was asked the question many Alabama fans want answered Tuesday during his first press conference of the spring.

Alabama went away from its traditional A-Day format in 2025. The Tide opted to have an open practice instead. DeBoer shared it is always the Tide’s goal to have a spring scrimmage, but he felt Alabama was not in a good position to do so last year.

“We always want to scrimmage and have a great spring game,” DeBoer told reporters. “Last year, we just had two position groups in particular… we wouldn’t have been able to put on a good show. We needed to get something out of the practices. Unfortunately, that was where we were at a year ago. I think we’re in a different spot this year.”

The Alabama head coach went on to say nothing has been confirmed about the A-Day format, but the Tide is hopeful it will scrimmage on April 11.

“We really haven’t talked about it as a team,” DeBoer said. “We’re just focused on what’s next. We’d love to get out there and have some fun, practice and get better and scrimmage. That’s kind of the expectation that we have for that day. I mean, hopefully nothing crazy happens, but that’s what I would expect for A-Day.”

Alabama fans are for sure itching to see some scrimmage football next month.
