Why Alabama freshman running back was limited in spring practice on Thursday

Alabama football’s freshman running back, Ezavier Crowell was limited during the Crimson Tide’s Thursday practice.

Crowell was seen wearing full pads during the media viewing period, but he was not going through drills with Alabama’s running backs. Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was asked about Crowell after the practice.

“Soft tissue deal,” Grubb said. “He’s okay. Just being cautious. We got another week coming up to make sure he’s healed the right way. And it’s a big spring for EJ. We wanna make sure he can get off to the right start, you know, when we get back. So. just probably being erring on the side of caution, but he’s looked great. He’s done a great job.”

Grubb was later asked what role he felt Crowell would fill for the Tide in 2026.

“Sky’s the limit for him,” Grubb said. “I mean, I think that’s a really, really competitive room.”

Alabama will continue spring practice throughout March ahead of A-Day on April 11.
