He delivered a quality performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, but now it is time for programs to trust their evaluation of Ty Simpson ahead of the NFL Draft.

The former University of Alabama quarterback is regarded as the No. 2 signal-caller in this year’s class behind Fernando Mendoza of Indiana. Mendoza defeated Simpson at the Rose Bowl and led the Hoosiers to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2025; however, most NFL Draft pundits prefer Simpson’s tape over Mendoza’s.
Jon Gruden, a former Super Bowl Champion head coach, thinks Simpson will be a star at the next level. A former NFL quarterback has broken down film on Simpson and is in love with his arm talent.
Chase Daniel, a former undrafted free agent in 2009, played 14 seasons in the pros with seven different teams.
He was on the New Orleans Saints’ 2009 Super Bowl Championship team and turned in a successful collegiate career at Missouri before turning pro. Daniel watched Simpson duel against some of the best schools in the nation last year – including a stretch where he led Alabama to victories versus Georgia (No. 5), Vanderbilt (No. 16), Missouri (No. 16), and Tennessee (No. 1).
In that four-game gauntlet, Simpson had 20 touchdown passes to one interception. Daniel is looking back at some of the Tennessean’s throws and he’s in awe at Simpson’s timing, anticipation, accuracy, decision-making, and zip on the football.
There’s just not a lot of guys in the country that can make this throw….

“There’s just not a lot of guys in the country that can make this throw,” Daniel posted on X after watching clips of Simpson.
“Someone’s going to be lucky to get Ty Simpson.”
He finished last season with 3,567 passing yards – fourth-most in school history for a single season – and 28 touchdown passes, which is tied for seventh-most in school history.
Ty Simpson has all the tools to be a very good NFL QB…
It’s just about reps, confidence, and putting it all together consistently.

Some team late in the first round is getting an ultimate competitor and leader in Simpson.
