What becomes Alabama’s starting rotation at wide receiver?

People have concerns about Ryan Coleman-Williams after last season, but the rising junior will bounce back in the upcoming fall.

He knows what it takes to better himself, but the real question is how many wideouts does Alabama have to help him?

In a perfect world, Ryan Grubb would love to have a rotation of seven to eight receivers – yet provide four with a volume of receptions. He did this at the University of Washington in 2023, producing an offense that had five receiving options catch 30-plus passes. Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk benefited the most in becoming 1,000+ yard receivers; however, Grubb’s offense that year allowed several to shine.

The last time Alabama wielded an offense like that was in 2018 with Tua Tagovailoa as its signal caller. Tagovailoa had Jerry Jeudy (68), Henry Ruggs III (46), Jaylen Waddle (45), and DeVonta Smith (42) all in position for 40+ receptions.

Irv Smith got in on the action as a tight end with 44 catches that season too. Grubb has a quarterback conversation happening between Austin Mack and Keelon Russell, but both excel in pushing the ball vertically. Williams returns as the No. 1 option at receiver, while Lotzier Brooks is back as a sophomore. The New Jersey native was impactful in 2025 with 32 catches for 441 yards and two touchdowns. Brooks was electric against Oklahoma in the opening round of the College Football Playoff – grabbing five passes for 79 yards and two scores. He helped the Tide earn a 34-24 comeback win in Norman, Okla.

Williams and Brooks are Nos. 1 and 2; however, who emerges as options three and four to navigate a dangerous passing attack?

Rico Scott

Rico Scott should be the first option based on his experience at Alabama.
