Red Morgan is listed at 6-foot and 189 pounds on the Alabama football’s 2026 roster, making him one of the Tide’s smallest defensive backs, but his size has not held him back during his time in Tuscaloosa so far, and he has no plans of letting it.

“I don’t too much get into all that,” Morgan said. “Being a little smaller, you just got to have a different mindset of things, approach things different. I don’t let things like that get to me. I just go out there and play my game. ”

Morgan has played in 27 games across his first two seasons in Tuscaloosa. A lot of those meaningful reps have been played within the Crimson Tide’s secondary. Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has described him as one of the best ‘strikers’ he has ever coached.

The Phenix City, Alabama native describes his style of play as physical and versatile.

“I’m a hard-nose, physical player,” Morgan said. “Put me anywhere on the field, I can do whatever.”

Alabama started Morgan at the Husky position in five games during the 2025 season.

The position calls upon the player playing it to be versatile. Wommack likes to use the position to play within the box at times, get after the quarterback and defend wide receivers in coverage. Morgan enjoys playing the position for the Tide,

“Just being physical, being able to play in the box and being able to go guard the best receivers out there,” Morgan said when asked what he likes about playing the husky position. The coaches just trust me to play anywhere. I appreciate them for putting that trust in me to go anywhere and play anywhere in the secondary. So, shout out to the coaches.”
