Alabama offers Texas 8th-grade running back: “Playing for Alabama is a dream for any player”

Cooper Jones reported an offer from Alabama football earlier this month, adding to his already impressive offer list.

Jones is an eighth-grader and a 2030 running back prospect, which means he has four years of high school football ahead of him. He is slated to play his high school football at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. Picking up an Alabama offer has Jones looking forward to building his relationship with the Tide.

“I feel blessed to get an offer from Alabama,” Jones said. “Never in a million years did I dream of getting an offer from Alabama and definitely not while I am in the 8th grade. I am grateful and really excited to continue to build a relationship with the entire coaching staff.”

Like most kids his age, Jones has witnessed the Crimson Tide have success his whole life.

“The Alabama program is a great one,” Jones told Touchdown Alabama. “My whole life watching football, Alabama was always one of the top programs. Their running backs are usually the best in the country. Playing for Alabama is a dream for any player.”

At 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Jones has displayed the potential to be a complete running-back prospect in the future with previous offers from Florida State, Penn State and several others.

“My greatest strength is my speed,” said Jones. “It allows me to be versatile and be a three-down back.”
