Kalen DeBoer earned a seven-year extension after two seasons as the head football coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

If the Crimson Tide were to fire DeBoer without cause during the 2026 season, it would have to pay him $67.5 million under the extension. This amount will decrease by approximately $10 million per year until 2033.

If DeBoer were to leave Alabama in 2026, he would owe the university $10 million. It would be $8 million in 2027 and $6 million in 2028.

Alabama is 20-8 under Kalen DeBoer during his first two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s head coach.

DeBoer shared he was excited about his future in Tuscaloosa in a statement after receiving the extension.

“My family and I would like to thank the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Trant, President Mohler, Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, our athletics administration and football staff, this community and the University for their continued support of Alabama Football,” said DeBoer. “We are excited about the opportunity to continue our time in Tuscaloosa with this contract extension. This University has become a special place to us, and I look forward to working to ensure that Alabama football remains at the forefront of college football. This program has a long history of success and an unmatched tradition that I was eager to be a part of two years ago, and I cannot wait to keep coaching our guys and bring more championships to Alabama.”
