After months of people saying that Ryan Coleman-Williams lost his mojo in 2025, it appears as if the junior Alabama wide receiver got his mojo this offseason.
Alabama football is about halfway through fall camp, and the Crimson Tide coaching staff is all aboard the train of thought that Coleman-Williams is on his way to having a stellar season and rectifying the wrongs of his sophomore season.
Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb highlighted Coleman-Williams when speaking with reporters on Monday, and he expressed that Coleman-Williams blew him away with an “unbelievable catch” to finish practice strong.
“Oh my God,” Grubb said. “80-yard drive to end practice, touchdown to finish, unbelievable catch. Enough said. He’s having an unbelievable camp. Lucky to coach the kid. He’s just an absolute wonder.”
Coleman-Williams led all Power 4 pass catchers in drops last season, but the Saraland native put a lot of work in during the summer to improve his catching.
“He’s been a guy that’s just been unbelievable,” Grubb said. “His growth as a person, as a player, his preparation has been second to nobody on the football team. He comes in here like during the summer. There is no time off. Guys go home for May, but he’s right here catching balls on the JUGS and all this stuff, so I just couldn’t be more proud of that guy.”
The theme is working in silence, and that’s what Coleman-Williams has been doing this summer.
Coleman-Williams is coming off a season where he received a tremendous amount of criticism but still finished with 49 catches for 689 yards and four touchdowns. He told Touchdown Alabama at the Crimson Tide’s media day that it doesn’t matter what people say about him. The junior wide receiver is doing everything he can to be the guy in the wide receiver room for Alabama and deafen those saying he is in a slump.
Alabama opens the season at home against East Carolina on Sept. 5.
