Kyren Caldwell wrapped up an official visit with the Alabama Crimson Tide, feeling comfortable with the way he would be used if he were to choose Alabama.
Caldwell attends Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida, and he is fresh off official visits to Alabama, Mississippi State and Maryland. The Florida product is expected to announce his decision on the fourth of July. He will consider a variety of factors when announcing his decision.
“Just being able to play early and get good development,” Caldwell said when asked about some of those factors.
Alabama hosted Caldwell for an official visit over the weekend, and the Tide’s staff hospitality stood out to him during what he felt was a good visit. He discussed with the Tide how he could fit in their offense while in Tuscaloosa.
“They were talking about me being a Z wide receiver for my first year,” Caldwell told Touchdown Alabama. “I think I could work with that.”
Germie Bernard started at the Z wide receiver position for the Crimson Tide last season, and he was used in a variety of ways while lining up there.
Caldwell has previously expressed his respect for the Alabama football program and the way they develop the position.
“I think the program is run very well,” Caldwell said. “They have been producing the best wide receivers for years.”
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Caldwell is an impressive route runner who creates separation throughout his film. He also possesses a long frame with the ability to create separation at different points in the progression of his routes. There are times when he creates separation off the line of scrimmage and at the top of routes.
