The Alabama Crimson Tide were able to open SEC play on a high note following their 45-17 victory over Kentucky this afternoon.
Alabama’s offense struggled throughout the first half, but the defensive unit was able to keep things close in the early stages of the contest. Sophomore linebacker Luke Metz had the best game of his collegiate career as well, as Metz was able to return an interception for a 34 yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Metz took a moment to break down what happened on his pick-6 following the game, as the sophomore was able to make a massive play when the ball came in his direction.
“He decided to throw my way, and I made a play.” Metz said.
Metz continued to reveal what led to the momentum shift throughout the second half.
“I think just getting settled in. Kentucky gives us a lot of looks offensively, tries to play with your eyes. I think we just got settled in and kept playing.”
Metz recorded 8 total tackles in addition to his pick-6 in the first half. The linebacker has been excellent after winning the starting role alongside Caleb Woodson this offseason, and Metz appears to be emerging as a true star on the Tide’s defense during the early stages of 2026.
