Former Alabama QB all in on Tide’s offense being hard to defend for rest of the year

Greg McElroy feels the Alabama offense will be hard to defend for the rest of the college football season after serving as the color commentator for ESPN in the Crimson Tide’s win over Florida State.

The Alabama offense operated at a high level once they bounced back from a slow start against the Seminoles on Saturday. The performance catapulted the Tide in position to win the game 50-36 in impressive comeback fashion.

Keelon Russell and the weapons outside him have the Tide’s offense trending upward for McElroy.

“And look at how things went in the beginning, man,” McElroy said on ESPN’s Always College Football. “It was all Florida State. They were up 21-6. Alabama then scored touchdowns on five consecutive possessions, finished with over 600 yards of offense. And guys, this was the week I think everyone was waiting for from Keelan Russell. Oh my goodness, he was ridiculous in this game. I mean, 23 of 30 for 323 scores, no picks. He also added a 57-yard touchdown run where he just decided, all right, turn on the jets and boom, he was out the gate. Lottie Brooks had 8 for 101. Ivan Taylor had a big interception on deflection to set up a 46-yard touchdown catch-and-run by Ryan Coleman-Williams. Alabama’s offense is going to be tough for just about anybody to defend all season long.”

Alabama football’s offense will have another shot at putting its big potential on display Saturday when the Tide takes on South Carolina at home.
