Who is imitating Kamario Taylor for Alabama in practice this week?

Alabama football is gearing up to take on one of the best quarterbacks in college football on Saturday in Kamario Taylor.

Taylor is an athletic dual-threat quarterback who can make plays with his arm and his feet at 6-foot-4. The Crimson Tide is using a mix of their 6-foot-7 quarterback John Gazzaniga and 6-foot-5 freshman quarterback Tayden-Evan Kaawa to imitate the quarterback, according to Kane Wommack.

The Alabama defensive coordinator also said the Tide will use skill players to imitate the quarterback’s running ability.

“And then a lot of times we’ll take some of our running backs or skill players when we got to do scramble-type drills, and we’ll either do an isolated scramble drill in practice, or we’ll do something in a team period where we get a guy scrambling around to try to simulate those things,” Wommack said. “But you know, at the end of the day, you can you can show them a little bit of what it’s going to look like, but to simulate that in real life, I mean, you know, you just it’s different on game day, and especially when you’re dealing with, you know, elite athletes at quarterback, like we saw last week, and like we will see this week.”

Alabama players and coaches respect what Taylor brings to the table. Wommack called him one of the best quarterbacks Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama staff has played. Alabama safety Bray Hubbard described Taylor as a player with a cannon for an arm.

“Yeah, he’s a great quarterback,” Hubbard said. “Obviously, he’s got a cannon of an arm. He can hurt you with his feet. He’s got great receivers around him. He’s got a great back in the backfield, so we have to defend him. They’re a great team, and he does a great job commanding their offense.”

Alabama will look to keep Taylor contained on Saturday.
