Alabama football’s freshman running back EJ Crowell made the most of his three carries against Mississippi State, rushing for 49 yards.

The former five-star is flashing the skill set that made him a five-star prospect, even with limited carries. He has rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries this season, and the back is averaging 7.8 yards a carry.

However, his early absence from the field against Mississippi State last week prompted a question from former Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland.

“Man where EJ at?” Ragland said in a post to X.

Ragland went on to post that he would give Crowell the carries that Alabama football’s starting back Daniel Hill enjoys.

Alabama fans and members of the Crimson Tide faithful also questioned the carries Crowell has gotten as of late.

Fortunately for Alabama, the Tide has a stable of running backs to feed. Hill has been a solid option for the Tide throughout the year outside of the Tide’s win against Mississippi State. Trae’shawn Brown and Crowell have both shown signs of being explosive backs as true freshmen as well. Brown led the Tide on the ground with two rushing touchdowns against Mississippi State.

It will be interesting to see how carries are distributed among the Tide’s backs as the season continues to progress.
