Alabama football has stumbled out of the gate on multiple occasions this season on both sides of the ball.

The Crimson Tide’s offense was the latest to do so. The unit struggled to get going against Texas A&M on Saturday. Fortunately for Alabama, their defensive unit rose to the challenge early and made some plays that allowed the Tide to stay in the game as its offense gained rhythm.

Kalen DeBoer feels a lack of execution early continues to plague the Tide in games.

“There are plays that we definitely know we need to make,” DeBoer said. “There’s execution that needed to be better early in the game.”

Alabama football’s rushing attack failed to execute early and often against the Aggies. DeBoer felt the inability to run the football stopped some things from opening up for the Tide.

“Disappointed in the stats,” DeBoer said. “So that’s all you got to really look at, and we need it more out of that run game to open up some things for us. We gotta get back to work and make sure we’re continuing to execute, first of all, and be able to stack some plays on top of each other. It’s okay for a couple yards; we get some negative yards and have guys that are unblocked at the point of attack or falling off blocks. Those are things that we gotta get back to the basics, and we gotta get better at.”

Alabama was able to shake off another slow start on Saturday en route to defeating the Aggies 31-20 to improve to 6-2. Alabama will be off in the upcoming week with a BYE scheduled. The Tide will return to action on Nov. 7 when LSU hosts Alabama.
