Alabama has a defensive back on three preseason award watch lists as fall camp begins.

Malachi Moore, a senior, looks to write a fantastic chapter to close his collegiate career.

He is a preseason candidate for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, and Wuerffel Trophy.

The Wuerffel honor, which is named after former Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel, goes to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service and academic achievement. Moore is an exceptional student-athlete, but the Trussville (Ala.) native does a lot of things in the community as well. He was one of several players signing autographs and taking pictures with children at Wednesday’s annual Nick’s Kids Foundation inside Bryant-Denny Stadium as the team reported for fall practice.

Moore had a tremendous freshman season in 2020, but injuries limited his production in 2021.

He bounced back last season with 31 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, five pass breakups, and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown. The 6-foot, 198-pounder has an opportunity to become a high round draft pick with a good season in the fall.
