Fourteen former Southeastern Conference standouts will be honored at this year’s conference title game in December, as the SEC announced its 2015 Legends Class Tuesday.
The event will pay homage to 14 individuals that helped shape the conference with excellence on and off the field. Ex-Alabama defensive star Woodrow Lowe is among the honorees.
Lowe earned an education and played football under legendary head coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant from 1972-75. He was dominant as a linebacker, totaling 315 career tackles.
His 134 tackles in his sophomore season still holds as an Alabama single-season record.
Lowe’s 315 stops ranks him third all-time in program history. He was a three-time All-American (1973-75) and four-time SEC champion (1972-75). Alabama won a national championship with Lowe in 1973, capping off an 11-1 season.
According to secsports.com, the class will be honored at the 2015 SEC Football “Weekend of Champions” on Dec. 4-5 at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Ga.
