Alabama football’s starting quarterback, Jalen Milroe gives opposing defensive coordinators a lot to think about when they are preparing for the Crimson Tide.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound quarterback is a dynamic athlete, who can make plays with his feet to go along with his deep-ball accuracy. It is true Milroe is still growing as a passer, but his overall game is enough to keep coordinators on their toes.
Nick Saban feels the Crimson Tide will see a variety of different defenses this season because of Milroe’s skill set. The Alabama head coach also feels this opens up opportunities for the Tide to explore.
“Because of his ability to run, sometimes people rush three guys and spy a guy,” Saban said. “Sometimes they rush four guys and spy a guy. That should be helpful in terms of us being able to protect better. I think when people play man to man and everybody turns their back, there’s opportunities to make plays if you can beat them one-on-one. But there’s also opportunities to take off. So, everybody’s going to have a different philosophy of how they want to play when it comes to how do we control the quarterback, whether it’s some people may say we’re just rushing five or six guys and make him be a passer. So, you never know how a team is going to approach that. We could see various things throughout the course of the year.”
Milroe and Alabama will see what Mississippi State has in store to slow the athletic signal-caller down on Saturday night.
