The Alabama TE who plays at a high level but does not get talked about

Gary Cosby Jr. - USA Today Sports

Each national championship team in the Nick Saban era for Alabama football had highlight players and under-the-radar names that executed the dirty work to perfection.

This group for the Crimson Tide under Kalen DeBoer has an opportunity to push for a national title shot. Alabama’s aspirations for the College Football Playoff are alive, and having dirty work players has been a reason. Robbie Ouzts, a former three-star in the Tide’s 2021 recruiting class, is in his fourth season. The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder is arguably one of the best blocking tight ends in college football. Ouzts is involved in the passing game, but he takes passion in punishing defensive players into the ground.

Alabama DB coach details early thoughts on LSU’s quarterback

He is not discussed much, but Ouzts is one of the most valuable names in the locker room.

Chris Kapilovic, Alabama’s offensive line coach, detailed Ouzts significance in Wednesday’s media availability.

“I think he is the guy that is the least talked about, but plays at a really high level,” Kapilovic said. “You can pull every game and see really physical things from him that are really impressive. So, having him in there is a huge asset. Everyone wants the ball, but he takes pride in being a physical blocker. You can tell there is an intensity to him. He loves it and it should be contagious.”

Kapilovic feels everyone on Alabama’s team should take to the game like Ouzts does.

Alabama feels it must get freshman DB on field more at safety

He wants to get dirty in making sure he does all things possible to help the Tide win. Ouzts has four catches for 24 yards this season. He looks to pound guys on LSU’s defensive front next week in a marquee game at Tiger Stadium.
