Alabama LB primed to make impact at WOLF position

One Alabama linebacker is gearing to make an impact on defense in the coming weeks.

After battling injuries early on in the season, redshirt freshman Yhonzae Pierre is ready to see increased snaps at the WOLF position. In the past two weeks, Alabama has lost two outside “WOLF” linebackers. Graduate senior Que Robinson suffered a season-ending injury against LSU. Redshirt junior Keanu Koht was suspended and subsequently entered the transfer portal earlier this week.

Pierre is a former five-star edge rusher out of Eufaula High School in Eufaula, Alabama. Coming out of high school, he held 19 total offers. At 6-foot-3 and 223 pounds, Pierre has great burst and bend off the edge. Moving forward, I would expect to see a heavy mix of redshirt freshman Qua Russaw and Pierre at the WOLF position.

Pierre has recorded four tackles on the season. He had surgery early on in the season to repair an injury. He is back to full health and eager to contribute on defense. His ability to rush the passer and provide a run-stopping presence is something that should be very helpful as the season continues. I would expect for Pierre to be a valuable asset to the ‘SWARM’ defense moving forward.
